Exchange Rates

List the 1990 and 2005 Exchange Rates of one of the countries below and one that is not listed. Specify the currency used. Do not pick a country already commented on by another person for your second country. See my example for the format and level of detail expected in your comment.

Explain why this change occurred over these years.

What happens to the value of a monetary unit when the demand for the currency increases? (hint - see price setting post)
  • Australia
  • Brazil
  • Canada
  • China
  • Germany
  • India
  • Japan
  • Mexico
  • South Africa
  • United Stated
  • Zambia

Example:

  • Saudi Arabia - Saudi Arabian Riyal
  • 1990 3.745 per U.S. Dollar
  • source:http://intl.econ.cuhk.edu.hk/exchange_rate_regime/index.php?cid=21
  • 2005 1 USD = 3.7505 SAR
  • Source: www.gocurrency.com
  • I think that the political stability of the Royal Family controlling Saudi Arabia and the constant international demand on their primary export (oil) has allowed the Saudi Riyal to remain stable compared to the U.S. dollar for the past 15 years.

Brazil
1990-169.330 Real= 1 U.S dollar
2005-1 American Dollar(s) = 2.1315 Brazilian Real(s)
1 BRL = 0.469153 USD
1 USD = 2.1315 BRL
Argetina
1990-Argetine peso 5,585.000= 1 U.s dollar
2005-1 American Dollar(s) = 3.0773 Argentine Peso(s)
1 ARS = 0.32496 USD
1 USD = 3.0773 ARS
I think the changing from the Austral to the Peso, the currency crisis with a $132 billion loan payment in U.S dollars, and its huge spending and decrease in commodity price lead to great deficit has caused the change over the years.

i think that the currencys changed bacuse they had to. I think how much money is worth of all countries will never be the same all the time and depending on how the economy is doing the worth of the money will mosty decrease unless the country is in its golden age.

Brazil - Brazil Real
1991 .35 per U.S. Dollar

source:www.kcshop.com/foreigncurrency/1a-c.htm
2005 1 USD = .44 Reals
Source: www.google.com

Brazil has been a pretty stable country in South America. The slight change in the amount of U.S. dollar is just because sources are becoming more limited.
